Nusrat Khan, Malik Nusrat Jalesari

Nusrat Khan, Malik Nusrat Jalesari
(?-1300)
He was possibly associated with Jalesar (45 kilometers northwest of Agra) for a long time or was an Indian noble hailing from that place. Malik Nusrat was entitled Nusrat Khan by 'Ala al-Din Khalji (1296-1316). He is reported to have become instrumental in amass-ing great wealth in the treasury from the elimination of the nobles of the previous regime suspected of disloyalty. 'Ala al-Din also made him the kotwal of Delhi. In 1297, relinquishing the office of kotwal, he became wazir and was also allotted the prestigious iqta' of Kara. In 1300-1301, Nusrat Khan was killed while leading the siege oper-ations at Ranthambhor.
